In Episode 83, Pirena asked Cassiopea who Lilasari's mother is. Cassiopea said she cannot tell Pirena, because even Lilasari's mother doesn't know that Lilasari is her daughter. For her statement to make sense, I thought that Lilasari's mother should still be alive at that point, but there were very few other powerful female characters of note that we know about. If dead characters can be included among the possible mothers of Lilasari, Avria would be an easy pick.
P.S. - I placed this on the blog instead of article comment because I think this remains to be a possibly legit spoiler.Read more >
Really excited about the new chapters of Encantadia. Sad to see Amihan go, but it could not be helped. Until the next time, beloved queen.
Glad to see Pirena as Queen of Hathoria... It was one of the oversights of the 2004 series. But where would she get the people to repopulate her kingdom? Will the surviving Hathors be turned to normal, or will she just recruit from the other Encantado races?Read more >
Some really good scenes, in my opinion
- Episode 91: Lira questioning her worth, Imaw telling her that he thinks she has an important part to play
- Episode 93: Lira rejects Ether's offer to restore her true form, in exchange for giving up her destiny to restore peace
- Episode 94: Emre's monologue promising a good future for Lira (even though no one heard him except the TV audience)
- Episode 106: Lira's invisible birthmark; Lira weeps when Amihan embraced Mira; Pirena weeps when she saw Mira's proclamation as successor
What are the powers of someone who is both a Sapiryan royal and a Sang'gre?
It has been established that the royal Sapiryans have healing abilities. Are healing abilities passed on to Sang'gre-Sapiryans, such as Amihan and Lira?
So far Amihan had not yet exhibited any healing abilities - it seems she needed Danaya's healing when she was wounded by Pirena. Maybe she did not think it possible, or maybe she could only have one type of nature (Sang'gre nature vs Sapiryan nature, in which case she definitely has Sang'gre powers).
The case of Lira is even more curious. It is established that she has teleportation abilities - which up till now seems reserved for the diwatas. Will she also have healing abilities, as she is more Sapiryan in terms of d…Read more >
Trivia: Names that start with "A" occur in Encantadia with some frequency.
Somehow, consciously or unconsciously, this is the case. Less frequently, but second to A, are the names that start with "M".Read more >
Asval had an earlier debut in this series than in 2005.
In 2005 Asval was a descendant of the royal family of Sapiro. If I remember it properly he was not a prince until Etheria, so it was probably some retcon. I thought that this has changed, because he was not called "prince" by anyone early in the series. Not until Episode 21, when Axilom called him "Prinsipe Asval."
I'll still wait for him to say what his connection with the royal family has become now, before updating the family tree.Read more >
How long are Sang'gre pregnancies?
Without a canon source, I could only speculate as to how long it takes.
Assuming that there are no time lapses,
- Raquim is informed of Mine-a's pregnancy at either dawn or sunset (I'll pick dawn)
- Raquim visits Mine-a in daylight, fights war with Hathoria by afternoon
- At night, Arvak is slain, Amihan is born
- Mira and Lira
- Pirena and Amihan meet with the dads of their babies in dreams
- By morning, Amihan tells her sisters of her pregnancy
- Night - Amihan meets Ybarro in Adjantao
- Later that night - Mine-a dies, Amihan gives birth. Same with Pirena.
Based on the continuous action - especially from Lira's conception to birth - the shortest period is probably 24 hours.Read more >
Episode 19's title "Misyon" is a serious head-scratcher. The title should have some relation to the content, and I am having a hard time determining what it is this time.
- Ybarro-Alena breakup
- Asval's kantao
- Danaya's report on Mine-a's killer
- Ybarro's departure
- Pirena returns the key
- Adoption of Lira
- Muyak watching over Lira
- Alena, Danaya and Imaw attacked by dragon
- Ybarro saving Adamyans
- Pirena training Mira
- Fortune-teller warns Amanda
- Asval - to obtain the kantao and obtain the throne of Sapiro
- Danaya's report - investigating Mine-a's death
- Muyak - to watch over Lira
- Alena and Danaya - some unspecified mission or they were simply strolling?
- Ybarro - leaving Alena behind
What do we call Mira?
Due to baby-switch, Mira acquires the name of her cousin Lira. How do we call this character, who will appear in subsequent episodes - Lira or Mira?
Though she will be called "Lira" and it is the name she has known from childhood, it would be best to still call her "Mira" in character and episode articles. In episode articles, especially, since I try to make links to all the names - it would be very clumsy if I have to write pipe links each time for Lira as Lira and Mira as Lira - and it would be very confusing in the long run.Read more >
Does Mine-a have a grave?
This question was generated by the events of Episode 18. Pirena took care of an "obstacle" (she left Lira in the human world). Danaya overhears her and asks her to explain herself. Pirena lies, saying she went to the tomb of their ancestors to visit her mother's grave.
Pirena lied. Mine-a's body was taken to Devas by the butterflies.
What is puzzling is why did her sisters believe her? Is this a plot hole?
So I crafted some theories to cover up this plot hole:
- the Sang'gres forgot that their mother's body was taken to Devas (memory gap theory)
- the "grave" referred to did not contain a body, but is simply some place of memorial (pseudo-grave theory)
- the butterflies take Mine-a's body to carry her soul to Devas. Once her s…
What is the extent and the limitations of Sapiryan healing powers?
Because of their healing abilities I expect the Sapiryans to be a hardy race, for they can fight, get wounded, heal and fight again another day. Short of mortal blows and instant death, we could expect them to heal and live.
Three notable Sapiryans have died so far:
- Armeo's wife
Of these Armeo's death is the most curious. With the Earth Gem, his healing abilities are possibly supreme, so he virtually let himself die by not healing himself. Sapiryan healing powers may have limitations known only to the Sapiryans, and when they know that a wound surpasses that limit, they no longer try to heal. Armeo may have underestimated the ability of the Earth Gem to heal him, for …Read more >
The gems are the most powerful objects in the Encantadia world, so the article name deserves some thought.
For the English version, 'gem' is preferable as opposed to 'gemstone', since it is shorter yet they mean the same thing. 'Fire Gem' would also be preferable as opposed to 'Gem of Fire' and the like, for the same reason.
As to the article name: should it be 'Gem' or 'Brilyante'? I think the article name should at least be 'Brilyante', even though 'gem' should be used in the content.
Five or one? Should each gem have its own article, or would they be better understood if presented jointly, side-by-side?Read more >
Things to remember:
- the demonym for Hathoria is Hathor, not Hathorian
- the demonym for Sapiro is either Sapiryan or Sapirian. I will use Sapiryan until I see it otherwise in canon.
- the demonym for Lireo is diwata, though I sometimes use Lirean.
- For Adamya, Adamyan
This is my first blog.
One of the basic errors I have to guard against is the confusion of the character names of Agane and Gurna. I am confused with them because they are both women in the service of Hathoria. But Gurna's name sounds more like a warrior's than Agane's, so I sometimes write 'Gurna' even if I refer to Agane. But I never write 'Agane' when I refer to 'Gurna'.
Another exasperating name is 'Mine-a'. The dash serves no purpose, as it sounds the same even if spelled as 'Minea'. I have seen both spellings in use; I saw a chapter with Mine-a's name spelled as 'Minea'. I will standardize the spelling in favor of the plainer one.
