Apitong is the leader of a group known as Mandirigma (actually bandits and thieves) living in the mountains of Adjantao and the adoptive father of the orphaned prince of Sapiro, Ybrahim.

Appearance[]

Personality[]

Despite living a life of pillaging, Apitong is a moral Encantado, willing to set bounty aside to help those in need. He ceaselessly imparts words of wisdom to his adoptive son, Ybarro.

History[]

Apitong, with two other mandirigmas, were going to scout to palace of Sapiro to in an attempt to rob it. However, he saw the palanquin of the Queen of Sapiro trying to escape. The Sapiryan party was ambushed by Hathors led by Agane. Apitong had to be restrained by the other mandirigmas, for he had the impulse to help the queen. They were vastly outnumbered, however, and helping the Sapiryan party would have cost them their lives. With the queen gravely wounded, the Hathors left.

Apitong ordered his men to gather the weapons. The queen stirred, and asked for her son Ybrahim, unharmed and still inside the palanquin. Apitong took the child to the queen, and she died shortly thereafter. Apitong then took the child to his camp in Adjantao. He decided to adopt the child as Ybarro, despite the objection of his wife Ayang. Ybarro was raised not knowing his true parentage.

Ybarro eventually received a hint that he might be a Sapiryan royal. Apitong confirmed this. Though Ybarro was angry at first, they remained in good terms.

After Ybarro's reported death, Apitong continued looking for him, inspired by the hopefulness of Sang'gre Alena. They would not see each other until many years after. Soon it was Alena who was reportedly dead, and Apitong consoled Ybarro.

When Wantuk and Pako have found Ybrahim in his Kalasag, Apitong initially gets angry at him at first, but he is happy to found him.

After the Fall of Lireo, it was said that Apitong was looking for Encantados who could boost the loyalist army of Amihan. But Apitong never returned, and his fate is unknown.

After many years, Apitong delivered a message to Rama Ybrahim in Lireo. Ybrahim ordered Mashna Mayca to look for his adoptive father in the woodlands of Adjantao.[1]
